Anondho Dhara Newport (A.D.N) has expanded since it was formed in 1995 to provide services for the youth and the Bangladeshi community in Newport, Gwent.
The group is managed by dedicated volunteers, who are not paid for their time and commitment in trying to improve the quality of life and meeting the needs of the Bangladeshi community in Newport and the wider surroundings.
We are constantly working in partnership with local mainstream organizations and other sectors along with the support of local businesses in able to carry out successful projects to meeting the needs of the community. It has been a busy and challenging decade and we have achieved a lot for our community as you will see in this special “10th Anniversary Edition - Souvenir 2005”.
I am also proud to say as a leading Bangladeshi and BME group in Newport, we have been successful in opening our first independent Bangladeshi community office (something that has not been achieved before). The office is used as a contact point to liase with local groups and enabling the service providers access to the community. We have a womens sub-group who are also taking a leading role to meet the needs of the Bangladeshi women in Newport.
There is a lot of potential in some of our members and they have shown good quality work for this group both male and female, by supporting and encouraging them they can lead A.D.N to a better future. A special thanks to Sian Smart - project co-ordinator Newport LHB, Maria Mesa - CFSN-BVSNW and Carol Wadsworth – headteacher of Maindee Primary School for their kind support and co-operation over the period of years.
Finally, as chairman of A.D.N, I look back to our achievements from 1995 to 2005. I am proud to be part of A.D.N and for what we have achieved so far. The members have been kind, supportive and understanding, especially giving me the opportunity to lead this group and develop it to new heights. I hope A.D.N and the new generation of members take the group further and develop it stronger for the greatness of our community. I wish A.D.N the best for many years to come and that all the members work together staying neutral, non political, non religious in their views and opinions. Also, to respect all members equally.
That is the
"success" of
Anondho Dhara Newport!!
